School Outreach Programme on Energy Efficiency
With this school outreach programme, it is envisaged that our next generation will be educated to become energy conscious citizens of Hong Kong. The Energy Efficiency Office (EEO) of EMSD has been conducting school outreach programmes since 2000. The objective of the programme is to raise the awareness of secondary and post-secondary school students on energy conservation and environmental protection.
Each year, EEO approaches schools pro-actively for providing talks on energy efficiency and conservation to suit their teaching schedules. There are 15 experienced engineers responsible for delivering these talks to the students, as well as the teachers, all over the year. Just in the academic year 2007/08, 32 talks were delivered with the participation of around 8,000 students.
As part of the outreach programme, an interactive educational website, EnergyLand, was also launched. Students can find a lot of useful information on the principles of energy and energy efficiency in this website.
